The Ladies’ secret concert in Chambéry !

Correspondances will be in Chambéry for a performance of Le Concert Secret des Dames (The Ladies’ secret concert) on November 15 at 6 p.m. This program invites you to discover the musical world of the Ladies of Ferrara, three virtuoso singers and musicians who shook up the European music scene at the end of the 16th century.

Their mastery of counterpoint, ornamentation, and improvisation made them exceptional artists, quickly becoming a social phenomenon of immense renown. Adding to this glory, a mystery surrounds these ladies, whose music was jealously guarded by the Duke of Ferrara, who forbade its publication. The intimate nature of these concerts, which the duke reserved for a selected Italian and European elite, contributed greatly to the reputation of the musical court of Ferrara and lasted throughout the 17th century.
