A century of music in France: the MOOC crowdfunding campaign is now online!

The MOOC – Massive Open Online Course English – is an online university level course, free and open to all, which gives everyone the opportunity to discover the music of the Grand Siècle, from home!

Presented by Sébastien Daucé and Saskia De Ville, presenter of the Matinale de France Musique, this ambitious project will gather more than three hours of instructional videos shot in the most beautiful halls of the Louvre, and as much in media and complementary media (musical extracts, unpublished recordings , fun exercises, explanatory vignettes …). You will know everything behind the scenes of French music in the 17th century: in what places does it resonate, on what great occasions, who are the musicians and composers of that time?
This project, carried out by the Centre Culturel de Rencontres d’Ambronay and the Correspondances ensemble, in partnership with the Louvre Museum and Sorbonne University, will be launched in September 2019.
Until then, if you are curious, connected, if you enjoy music and love history: you can contribute financially to the project by participating in the Ulule crowdfunding before December 15…or just talk about it!

Ensemble Correspondances presented the Pastoral on the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ by Marc-Antoine Charpentier on tour in Canada and the United States.

The H.483 Pastorale that Charpentier composed at the request of his patron, the Princess of Guise, is thought to be played by the troop of servants of the household that welcomes him – all excellent musicians. Each valet and maid finds his counterpart in the score of this little chamber opera – a pastoral at the intersection of the sacred and secular genres, of the popular and the learned, of ingenuousness and gravity.

Ensemble Correspondances

Founded in Lyon in 2009, Correspondances brings together under the direction of the harpsichordist and organist Sébastien Daucé a group of singers and instrumentalists, all of whom are specialists in the music of the Grand Siècle. In a few short years of existence, Correspondances has become a benchmark ensemble in the seventeenth-century French repertory.
