Out of Tenebrae in Versailles

From the very first work preserved in the famous Mélanges by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, one of the Tenebrae Lessons composed in France, this program reconstructs an imaginary liturgy from this nocturnal lament to the morning service. The pieces gathered here highlight the musical universe of Charpentier on his return from Italy to France and illustrate the path from the Passion to the Resurrection.

Upcoming performance: Royal Chapel of Versailles, April 12, 2019 at 8pm
