Choc de Classica, Diapason d’Or, Diamant d’Opéra and ffff de Télérama for the Histoires Sacrées !

Released by Harmonia Mundi on April 12, 2019, the latest Correspondances album is awarded with a Choc de Classica, a Diapason d’Or, a Diamant d’Opéra and an  ffff de Télérama !

Sacred stories constitute an unclassifiable genre in 17th century French music; based on a dialogued form that reinforces the expressiveness of musical discourse, these pieces invite a strong inner representation, sound, visual and spiritual. They illustrate a fundamental characteristic of Charpentier’s language, with an obvious taste for theatricality – certainly one of the great strengths of his genius.

Directed by Vincent Huguet, the first staged production of the ensemble, Trois Femmes, recorded at the Chapelle royale de Versailles, is in a bonus DVD included in the box set.

“The theatricality of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s sacred stories did not escape Sébastien Daucé, who delivers a unique record.”  Choc de Classica

“Everything is there, elegance and invention, the fusion of tastes, the idea fountain, and happy performers for whom Charpentier’s music is second nature, an art of living.” Diapason d’Or
